Episode 11: Leslie Bradshaw, C-SPAN and Particpatory Democracy

by Aaron Brazell on October 1, 2008

I was very pleased to have Leslie Bradshaw join me today. Leslie is no stranger around the DC community and she recently spent quite a bit of time on C-SPAN doing social media wrap-ups on each night of both the DNC and RNC.

Currently, she is working with C-SPAN on behind the scenes social media work relating to the debates.

I talked with Leslie about her work with C-SPAN, picked her brain about the “voice of the people” as heard during the Bailout package rejection by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Episode 10: Andre Blackman on Health Matters

by Aaron Brazell on September 26, 2008

While I was off in Las Vegas for Blog World Expo, Andre Blackman of New Media Strategies joined the show with special guest host Jimmy Gardner.

Was one of the more interesting shows as the two discussed public health. Later, callers including Shireen Mitchell added more interestingness.

Episode 9: NewMediaJim from NBC

by Aaron Brazell on September 16, 2008

Great show on a new night tonight. Jim Long, NBC Cameraman extraordinairre, joined us tonight and talked about a wider variety of topics surrounding Twitter, where he is a rockstar of sorts.

We also dove into the age old question about blogging and journalism and later in the show, the deeper question of relationships in the online world.

Episode 8: Political Review

by Aaron Brazell on August 31, 2008

There was a last minute change due to a personal matter that Rep. John Culberson had come up, that prevented him from being able to join the show. We will get him on for another date.

Marco Nunez joined the show instead. Marco is certainly a friend of the show and I had every intention of having him on the show, so it all worked out.

Marco ran the field operations for John McCain’s Iowa campaign and brings a wealth of insight to the show. He is a conservative and a Republican but highly bipartisan with clear thinking. It’s always fun to discuss politics with someone who refuses to be a partisan hawk.

Marco and I discussed the “Clinton Convention” and, oh yeah, Barack Obama’s acceptance speech. We then talked about John McCain’s pick for Vice President, Sarah Palin, before Marco flipped the tables on me and dug out my reasoning for voting for Obama, despite being a conservative.

All around good show.

Heads up, the next show will be on our new Tuesday night time slot at 9pm EDT. It will air live on Sept 16. Join me then.

Show Teaser: Congressman John Culberson

by Aaron Brazell on August 28, 2008

I’m really excited about the show this weekend. Rep. John Culberson (R-TX) will be joining the show. John Culberson has been very active using social networks to communicate with his constituents and the world. At Technosailor.com last month, I covered the crazy fiasco around Congressional franking rules which prevent official communications from being juxtaposed next to advertising as well as other considerations.

Congressman Culberson has been a vocal supporter of changing the rules and he’ll talk to us about progress that has been made on that front, as well as other issues related to technology and government.

Please join us for this very important show.

Episode 7: Green Tech

by Aaron Brazell on August 23, 2008

This evening, we welcomed Chris Baskind to the show. We discussed the pros and cons of various alternative forms of energy for cars, homes, businesses and even servers.

Chris is a compelling guest that has a lot to say about conservation, in particular. We really didn’t get into conservation until the very end, but it may be the one way we can get through the next 10-15 years while the market figures out what to do about rising energy costs.

Thanks again, Chris, for joining the show. I enjoyed it.

Listen now to episode 7.

Show Teaser: Chris Baskind from EcoTech Daily

by Aaron Brazell on August 22, 2008

Please join me tomorrow night at 9pm and welcome Chris Baskind to the show. I say this with some hesitation as Chris is now under a Tropical Storm watch due to T.S. Fay. Contingency plans are in effect and we will have a backup guest on if Chris is unable to make it due to power outages or flooding.

We expect no issues though.

Chris is on the forefront of environmental tech, and will bring his thoughts regarding green technology, the energy crisis and alternative fuel sources.

Join me tomorrow at 9pm edt on Talkshoe, and if you can’t make it, be sure to check out the archive that will be posted here or subscribe in iTunes or now on the Zune.

If you want to listen live but can’t, never fear. You can call in to the show at 724-444-7444 x22406. You will not be unmuted unless you press *8 to request to talk. Just listen to your hearts content.

Episode 6: Ben Yoskovitz on Jobs, the Economy and Entrepreneurship

by Aaron Brazell on August 17, 2008

First of all, thank you to Jimmy Gardner for filling in for me while I was in San Francisco and to Ben Yoskovitz for joining the show and being an absolute pro through technical difficulties.

What the guys don’t know is that I called in and listened to 10 minutes of the show on my phone while I was sitting in a session at WordCamp. These guys are great.

The show was multi-faceted in an interesting way. Ben described StandoutJobs, a B2B HR tool that allows hiring companies to put destination portals online for job seekers. At taking the poll that is open.

Until next week.

Show Teaser: Ben Yoskovitz Will Help You Find a Job

by Aaron Brazell on August 13, 2008

The show this weekend is going to be special. Besides the fact that I won’t be around (and the crowd went wild!) and Jimmy Gardner is taking the show reins for the week, Ben Yoskovitz will be joining the show from Montreal.

Ben is the founder and CEO of Standout Jobs. With the economy in a downturn, and unemployment at a dangerous level, finding great jobs is at the forefront of a lot of peoples minds.

What can be done to stand above the competition? What industries are really hopping right now (there really are some!).

Come out Saturday night and join the show at 9pm EDT. If you can’t make it or are time-shifted, subscribe in iTunes.

Also, don’t forget to have your voice heard on when the Aaron Brazell Show should be aired live.

Show Time Poll

by Aaron Brazell on August 10, 2008

I’ve heard some concerns about the time of the show. The complaints usually revolve around it being on Saturday night or being at a time that conflicts with west coast time schedules.

I thought I’d put the options out there for you to vote on.

  • Keep it at the same time (Saturday, 9pm eastern)
  • Monday nights, 7pm eastern
  • Wednesdays, 8pm eastern
  • Wednesdays, 9pm eastern
  • Thursday, 7pm eastern

Please use the Sodahead poll at the right to vote.
